The Lagos International Maritime Week was organised by Zoe Maritime Resources Ltd., the conference convener was Oritsematosan Edodo-Emore, a member of WISTA Nigeria and an invitation was extended to WISTA Ghana President, and WISTA International Exco Member responsible for the African Region, Mrs. Naa Densua Aryeetey, as a Moderator for one of the round table session on 'Port Development and Ease of Doing Business in Africa.
It was a three-day event with International Maritime Business to Business Conference and Exhibition on the 20 and 21st June 2017 on the Theme: “Dynamism and Maritime Investment in Africa”
Participants were from Cameroun, Ghana, Tanzania and Nigeria and many WISTA ladies, both from Ghana and Nigeria attended. Some of the WISTA Ladies were there to moderate the sessions. Mary Hamman, President of WISTA Nigeria, and Mrs. Ify Akerele, a former President of WISTA Nigeria, also moderated other sessions.
There was also a Public Lecture on current developments in the maritime sector in Africa, and Round Table sessions on Maritime transportation, Maritime Security in the Gulf of Guinea, Maritime Law and Arbitration, Port Development and the Ease of Doing Business and the Marine Environment.
It was a week of activities showcasing the best of the maritime industry in Africa, net working, advocating and proffering solutions to some of Africa’s maritime transportation challenges. The activities ended up with a gala dinner and a visit to Nigeria's Art Gallery one of the biggest in West Africa.
Active participation of WISTA Members contributed largely to the success of the Lagos International Maritime Week
