“Personality of the Year” WISTA Germany

Natallia Dean, Director at Pella Sietas GmbH, received this year’s WISTA Germany “Personality of the Year” (PotY) award. “Our aim with this award is to highlight female personalities who have an exemplary function in career and commitment in the maritime industries,” explained Dagmar Klenk, President of WISTA Germany. And that is exactly what Natallia Dean represents. "As director of Pella Sietas she took over a very challenging task at very tough times," said laudator Dr. Reinhard Lüken, MD of VSM German Shipbuilding and Ocean Industries Association. SMM is the leading international maritime trade fair. We believe by discussing the future prospects of women during the SMM and honoring the WISTA Germany PotY, we provide the right platform for exchanging experience and encourage all concerned parties to support more women on all levels in our maritime industry”, said Dagmar Klenk during the opening speech of the panel discussion prior to the PotY award at the DNV GL Forum.

"Diversified teams produce better results”, said Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen, CEO of DNV GL Maritime. His fellow panel discussion members agreed that having more diversity is beneficial for the industry but that women are still a minority and face challenges when taking up a position in the maritime sector. On the other hand there are plenty of interesting tasks to choose from, support is offered from various places and therefore women should have the courage to take up these challenges with commitment and passion.

The lively discussion and the great number of participants showed the importance of this event. WISTA Germany would like to thank the panel members and especially DNV GL for the generous support.
